Patagonia Smoked Wild Pink Salmon
Slow Smoked with Brown Sugar
& Pastrami Spice
The brown sugar flavor tastes okay, and the pastrami spice tastes like pastrami. The brown sugar flavor smells quite salmon-y though not so much that I can't eat it, whereas the pastrami spice masks fishiness quite well. I was initially afraid there would be lots of little bones in the fish from the way it looks but it actually is quite nice.
The texture reminds me more of salmon that has been fried in a pan, minus the crisp, than typical smoked salmon. The fish is more flaky and the flavor is not bad.
I'm not sure that it would be worth the full price but it is probably worth for campers, backpackers, and others who can't easily go to a grocery to cook their own.
I do appreciate that the tin is mostly fish and there is next to no oil to have to dispose of.
